On August 6, 2023, the State Administration for Market Regulation (National Standardization Administration) issued the No. 7 announcement of 2023, approving and issuing 431 recommended national standards and 2 national standard amendments, including “kitchen paper towels” and 3 other national standards related to the household paper industry. “Kitchen paper towels” applies to paper towel products used for kitchen wiping, cleaning, and other purposes. Compared with the original standard, the new national standard has adjusted the raw material composition, product classification, performance, and safety performance. In terms of technical requirements, the new national standard deleted indicators such as horizontal liquid absorption height, horizontal tensile index, and longitudinal wet tensile index, and added indicators such as water absorption time, water absorption capacity, oil absorption capacity, horizontal tensile strength, longitudinal wet tensile strength, dusting rate, migratable fluorescent substances, acrylamide, ash content, decolorization performance, heavy metals, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes.
“Paper, paperboard and paper products – Determination of effective recycled components” applies to various types of paper, paperboard and paper products, as well as paper-based composite materials such as aluminum foil paper and laminated paper. The implementation of this standard will help waste paper recycling departments and production enterprises understand the quality level of waste paper, which is conducive to promoting the recycling and utilization of domestic waste paper and effectively supplementing China’s papermaking fiber raw materials.
“Pulp – Determination of fines mass fraction” applies to all types of pulp, as well as paper that can be completely dissociated into fibers. The publication of this standard provides a method basis for testing the fines mass fraction in pulp, which is of great significance for improving pulp quality and enhancing the quality of paper and paperboard products.
